South Yorkshire Police have a vacancy in the Protect function – Cyber Protect Officer.

The core requirement of the role is for you to work in partnership with others, to develop and deliver cyber awareness to victims, the public and local businesses.

You will be expected to deliver cyber security advice in accordance with local and national strategies. This will include design and delivery of local presentations, as well as promoting cyber related material.  You will need to encourage and promote the reporting of such crimes, as well as those of joining Networks such as the CiSP.

A significant part of the role will also include prioritising victim care.  You will be expected to provide preventative and support measures to protect victims and safeguard them from further targeting.  An important aspect of the role is the wider messaging and prevention advice.  Delivery of this will include not only face-to-face, but also presentations to victims and vulnerable groups / businesses, as well as an effective on-line and social media presence.

Keeping up to date with the latest frauds, techniques and offending patterns is key. Being able to deliver the message to different groups such as schoolchildren, vulnerable victims, likely victims and businesses is essential.
