The Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) Manager role is a key role within South Yorkshire Police.  The exciting opportunity has arisen for the right person to lead the team on behalf of South Yorkshire Police, in partnership with the Probation Service. 

Key Aspects:

  • Joint manager with the Probation Service of the MAPPA Unit with the responsibility for MAPPA Level 2 and 3 cases.
  • Assist in the management of Dangerous, Sexual and Violent Offenders and Potentially Dangerous Persons (PDP) to protect the public, protect victims and prevent further victimisation and reduce crime.
  • Oversee and review the ViSOR database and intelligence submissions.
  • Supervise Staff
  • Identify best practice, ensure the implementation of local regional and national best practice.
  • Develop relevant policy.
  • Manage the MAPPA Audit Process.
  • Assist with MAPPA Serious Case Reviews.
  • Undertake chair training and to chair MAPPA meetings.
  • Develop and deliver training for MAPPA to the Police and partner agencies.
  • Complete the Annual Report in conjunction with the Probation Service and the Prison Service for the South Yorkshire MAPPA Team.
  • Complete monthly figure returns for the National MAPPA Team in partnership with the Probation Service.
  • To be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for MAPPA on behalf of SYP.
  • To be a member of the MAPPA SMB and to undertake actions as directed by the chair

Skills and experience:

  • Experience and understanding of the MAPPA process.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience of effective working with partner agencies.
  • Computer literate with experience of working with Microsoft Products ie word, excel, teams and outlook/365.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
