Role Purpose:

We are seeking to recruit two Tech Enabled Solution Specialists to join our Force. The Tech Enabled Change Team focusses on delivering change through technology as part of the wider Business Change and Innovation department. This is an exciting role with key links to Business Change, Operational Policing and IT department. As part of this role, you will work with the latest technology and software available to a diverse metropolitan police force and play a key role in delivering solutions that benefit Police, Partners and the Public.

The Tech Enabled Solution Specialist (TSS) role is key in delivering project and analysis work for the Tech Enabled Change Team.  The TSS will undertake project triage work for new projects to establish scope, deliverables, timeframes and resource requirements.

The successful applicant will work closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts to build a good working relationship, understand the needs of the business and the purpose for a project or piece of analysis. You will work with other members of the project team to assist with planning business analysis and wider project activities. 

The TSS will use a variety of tools and techniques to elicit relevant data and information.  Where required, process mapping and re-design work will enable cost savings and effective and efficiency ways of working.

The TSS will identify a range of benefits from the deliverables of projects and work with other members of the project team to document and deliver these benefits and they will identify and contribute to initiatives to develop the Tech Enabled Change Team and wider Business Change department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilise a toolbox of available IT solutions to solve specific problems faced by operational officers and staff giving expert advice to resolve issues and facilitate others to solve their own, in order to drive and fully derive the benefits from IT solutions.
  • Provide a service and link working between IS, Business Change and Operational Customers.
  • Provide advice and guidance on Office 365 products and other technologies on their functions and capabilities.
  • Working with colleagues in IS to implement within the operational environment the capabilities of Office 365 and other technologies in order to meet the business needs.
  • Support the Business Analysts and the Tech Enabled Operational Change Lead to embed technology into the business.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Share gained knowledge among the team and stakeholders.
  • Identify and escalate issues to our Tech Enabled Operational Change Lead whenever necessary
  • Troubleshoot and interact with your colleagues and stakeholders to find customer orientated solutions
  • Stay current with new system changes and updates
  • May be required to work outside normal hours and travel around and outside of the force area.
  • Perform any other such duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.

Skills and experience:

  • Holds a degree and/or significant experience of working with Information Technology
  • Working knowledge of Office 365 and its operational capacities within the working environment
  • Good communication skills both written and oral
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word Excel
  • Knowledge and experience of resolving problems at an organisational level
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-changing environment
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, consistent in approach to daily tasks and committed to customer service

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
