Since 2020 South Yorkshire Police Firearms Support Group (FSG) have undertaken almost 1500-armed deployments, providing initial response and pre-planned support to incidents and investigations across the Force.  During this same two-year period, South Yorkshire Police created a dedicated MAStS team focussed around disruption of armed criminality resulting in a significant number of deployments and convictions.

You will be joining a fair and inclusive team, based near Sheffield where we serve around 1 million people across the County in one of the UK's most diverse and challenging policing environments.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and hard-working individuals to join us with an opportunity to be part of our dedicated MAStS team.  In return, we can offer you the opportunity to use and develop the skills you have acquired within a demanding armed policing environment and to retain such skills through supported continuous personal development.

To Apply, Applicants Must Be:

• Substantive in the rank of Constable serving (or have served) with a Home Office Force
• A current Authorised Firearms Officer, trained to the National ARV Role Profile and be standard MAStS in-line with the National Police Firearms Training Curriculum
• Able to pass and maintain the Fitness Test to level 9-4

A final offer would be subject to the approval of applicants training records (and their transfer) by the CFI.

To be eligible to transfer you must:

• Be a current serving police officer in a Home Office force (Officers from British Transport Police, Police Service Northern Ireland, Police of Scotland & Ministry of Defence are assessed on a case-by-case basis).
• Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
• Have resided in the UK for three years immediately prior to submitting your application.
• Must have successfully completed your probationary period with your Force prior to submitting your application.

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be invited to a competency based interview, based on the Competency & Values Framework for Policing (CVF). 

Successful applicants will be guided through the transferee process and will be required to undergo the following checks:

• Vetting
• Medical Assessment & Fitness Test
• Drugs & Biometrics
• References
• Sickness Criteria
• Misconduct
• Tattoos

South Yorkshire Police offer relocation and removal expenses up to a maximum of £8000 to transferring officers currently living outside of the force area and at least 50 miles from their permanent place of work.
