An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Disclosure Officer to play a key role in one of our Major Crime Teams, supporting the work of homicide investigations. As a Disclosure Officer you will play a key role in ensuring the requirement of CPIA are adhered to throughout the investigation and subsequent court process. 

You will be responsible for assessing, summarising and scheduling all material gathered on the enquiry. You will ensure that comprehensive disclosure schedules are applied to the examination of revelation of all relevant unused materials, including the application of descriptions and relating to decisions of sensitivity of materials. You will also ensure that all materials are disclosed in line with applicable legislation and guidance.  As a Disclosure Officer you will work with the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in relation to any issues that might undermine the prosecution’s case.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing the role of exhibits officer in any major crime unit led investigation
  • Be responsible for preparing disclosure schedules
  • Preparing complex case files
  • Interviewing witnesses and complainants
  • Attend at Magistrates/Crown Court

Skills and experience:

  • Good command of English both verbally and in writing
  • High level of computer literacy including use of Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Ability to manage own workload, prioritising competing demands from different operations to ensure the enquiries run to their maximum effectiveness and efficiency
  • Must be PIP 2 accredited

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
