The Director of Resources is a critical senior leadership role, which drives performance and strategy in six enabling departments, to deliver an effective and efficient customer-focused service to a growing staff base of circa 5,200. As an integral member of the Senior Command’s collective leadership team, you will role model the vision, goals and values of the Force. You will lead and manage your portfolio to enable quality delivery to the communities of South Yorkshire and support SYP’s strategic vision of tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, protecting vulnerable people and enabling fair treatment.

Leading, developing, maintaining and coordinating our financial, physical and people resources, you will facilitate achievement of our ambitions to be an outstanding Force. In this pivotal role you will develop our long-term sustainable approach to the delivery of Commercial Services ensuring value for money, with a portfolio including: Corporate Finance, Regional Procurement, People & Organisational Development, Business Change & Innovation alongside collaborated functions with the Fire Service of Estates and Vehicle Fleet Management.


Our ideal candidate will be/ have experience of:

  • Educated to at least graduate level with considerable applied leadership experience and extensive business exposure.
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams in a complex environment.
  • Delivering large-scale change management and business transformation projects.
  • Strong commercial understanding with experience of managing entire budgets at a senior organizational level.
  • Supporting, coaching and influencing your team, senior colleagues and peers.
  • Effective change leadership, planning and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship management skills.
  • Able to communicate a compelling vision to key stakeholders internally and externally to achieve operational outcomes.
  • Business acumen from creating a commercial environment where the management of cost and customer satisfaction is paramount.
  • Proven ability to manage a challenging workload and plan for the future.
  • Previous experience of leading professional staff and optimizing performance.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
