Role Purpose:

Responsible for the painting, repair, commissioning and maintenance of police vehicles, plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will carry out the repair, maintenance and servicing of motor vehicles, motor cycles, plant and auxiliary equipment owned, leased or loaned by South Yorkshire Police.

The successful applicant will also carry out the damage repair/refurbishment and painting of Police vehicles, plant and equipment and also carry out the stripping and repair (with the use of jigs and associated equipment), collision damage to motor vehicles. Where necessary attend incapacitated vehicles at the roadside or vehicle base and recover or repair.

Skills and experience:

The post holder must possess a City & Guilds/NVQ 3 in Motor Vehicle Body Repair or an equivalent qualification and must have at least 5 years’ experience in carrying out mechanical servicing/repairs to motor vehicles, cycles and plant, following an indentured apprenticeship, ideally in a main dealer outlet.

The post holder must also possess a full driving licence and pass appropriate SYP Driving Test.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

Any tattoos which could be deemed inappropriate or cause offence will also not be accepted. If you have tattoos, you will need to make a declaration at the time of application.
