Details of role:

In this dynamic role, the successful candidate will work within the Performance Management Unit, dealing with all aspects of performance measurement and reporting. The candidate will deliver timely performance products, focussing on the data quality and statistical analysis required to best inform and contextualise appropriate decision-making throughout the organisation.

The role includes the need to proactively interrogate a wide range of data sources to meet statutory and associated data requirements, making recommendations to continuously improve data collection, data quality and statistical analysis, identifying business knowledge gaps, formulating recommendations. The candidate will be expected to deal with queries from external customers such as Home Office, HMICFRS, SY Police and Crime Commissioner, and internally the Senior Leadership Team and thematic leads as appropriate, and support the delivery of the force Performance Management Framework.

Working closely with colleagues within the areas of Business Change, Intelligence Analysis, and Governance, the candidate must have an interest in developing an evidence base for understanding and a strong organisational memory. Developing effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external customers and presenting to audiences at the appropriate level are key to successful delivery within this role. 

Role Purpose:

Assist the Performance Review Manager with all aspects of performance measurement and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure completion of statutory returns and maintain audit trails to the required standards for the audit commission process.
  • Use descriptive and inferential statistics in the analysis of performance and management information. This will include analysis of patterns, trends and thematic issues through the application of parametric and non-parametric statistics.
    • Undertake contextual analysis of data providing analytical support to:
      • Districts & Departments
      • Operational policing
      • Audit and inspection
      • Support partnership work
      • Strategic meetings
  • Proactively liaise with Districts and Departments to support their performance requirements.
  • Support the Internal Inspection of processes (within HMIC & Strategic Delivery Team).
  • Arrange, attend and contribute to meetings, prepare relevant materials, arrange training/coaching.
  • Assist Districts and Departments on the delivery of key performance measures and assist the Report Unit in the production of performance reports by advising on appropriate outcome based measures.
    • Participate in the performance management framework, which will include conducting data analysis to establish appropriate information and maintaining an audit trail.
    • Liaise with data providers and users at various levels both throughout the organisation and externally.
    • Utilise performance and survey results to inform the planning and inspection process.
    • Participate in meetings.
    • Be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and work within PMU
    • Represent and deputise for the Performance Review Manager when required.

Eligibility:
