South Yorkshire Police Sergeant Promotion Process

NPPF Step 3 (In force selection process)

If you have the drive, the vision and qualities to become a Sergeant at South Yorkshire Police, we want to hear from you. The force is seeking applications from Police Constables (Detective or Uniform) to assist in our quest to be the best and ensure the force continues to improve, delivering the highest quality service for members of the public.  The promotion process will be extremely competitive with only the very best candidates being successful.

Substantive Sergeants from external forces can also apply for this process as a transferee.

About the role

As a Sergeant will play an intrinsic part in ensuring the public receives the very best service from us, by working proactively and collaboratively with colleagues. The key aims of South Yorkshire Police should always be at the forefront of everything you do. 

We are looking for leaders who will:

  • Motivate and inspire staff, engaging with them and implementing change effectively
  • Have operational credibility
  • Be able to drive, improve and deliver performance outcomes
  • Be truly committed and passionate about the service provided to the public of South Yorkshire

Full details of the selection process and the criteria to apply will be detailed within the Manual of Guidance included in the application pack.

Applications can be submitted between Monday 20th August 2018 and 12pm Friday 31st August 2018 with interviews commencing on the 26th September.

We are offering two briefing workshops, to be held at South Yorkshire Police Training Centre, Robert Dyson House,  Unit 5, Doncaster Road, Wath Upon Dearne, S63 7EF on 25th July 2018 at 1500 or 9th August 2018 at 1500.
