A new post has been created within the Safety Camera & Ticket Processing department of the Operational Support Unit. The department deals mainly with further enquiries into speeding and red light offences.

Role Purpose:

To carry out all relevant enquiries to trace drivers and identify offenders with regards to offences against s172 RTA 1988 and other offences detected by safety cameras. To distribute intelligence to appropriate departments within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out investigations to determine the identity of drivers alleged to have committed driving offences captured by safety cameras.
  • Carry out investigations to identify persons who have failed to comply with s172 Road Traffic Act 1988
  • Present evidence, both orally and material at court.
  • Prepare and present case files.
  • Ensure quality of evidence and timeliness of enquiries
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of the legislation surrounding Road Traffic Law relating to Speed, Red Light and s172 offences.
  • Interview suspects and witnesses.  
  • Gather and record intelligence and distribute to relevant departments.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post

Further Information:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police & Humberside Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 3 years has been identified for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

Closing dates are not normally extended, other than in exceptional circumstances and agreement is made with the HR Manager, Recruitment and the Line Manager for the role.
