Role Purpose:

The post holder will provide general administrative support within the CID administration unit. They will be part of the Crime Support Unit at Rotherham and will undertake the processing of Crime Files that have proceeded through court or have negative outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Interrogate and/or retrieve data from various computer systems including CONNECT, SMART Contact, PNC, Caspre and update and maintain CMS ii.
  • Comply with Data Protection Act when dealing with telephone enquiries from members of the public/insurance companies etc.
  • Interrogate and decipher Court files and request the OIC to submit further crimes in order to detect and update CONNECT in line with District performance indicators and Home office counting rules.
  • Handle files containing sensitive, distressing and explicit papers received i.e. rapes, murders and child abuse cases.
  • Deal with the thinning, weeding and destruction of paperwork/files in line with the MOPI guidelines.
  • Processing Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority applications.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade.

Skills and Experience Required:

Essential Criteria: -

  • Previous use of Microsoft applications and competent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, Email and the Internet.
  • Previous administrative experience.
  • Experience of dealing with confidential information.

  • Ability to work on own initiative.

 

Desirable Criteria: -

  • Previous experience of working with South Yorkshire Police systems.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
