Role Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to provide secretarial and administrative support to the District Command Team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep of diaries, including the booking of appointments and arranging of interviews.

They will also be expected to undertake audio and copy typing as well as carrying out reception duties.

The maintenance and developing of administrative, postal and filing procedures, as well as responding to telephone enquiries will also play a key part in the role.

The successful candidate will be required to attend meetings, producing notes/minutes of meetings and progressing subsequent action and as part of this, undertake typing duties required by Senior Officers as appropriate.

They will communicate instructions and information, undertaking chasing as required on behalf of Command Team members.

Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post.

 

Skills and experience:

Essential

  • Previous experience of working in an office environment
  • Previous use of Microsoft Applications including Word and Excel
  • Must hold RSA Level 2 or equivalent typing qualification
  • Previous experience of minute taking

Desirable

  • Shorthand skills

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

All tattoos and piercings must be in line with South Yorkshire Police’s Appearance and Standards policy. Tattoos visible on your face, neck, hands or head are not permitted. Any tattoos which could be deemed inappropriate or cause offence will also not be accepted. If you have tattoos, you will need to make a declaration at the time of application.
