Role: Catering Assistant

Location: Robert Dyson House, Wath-on-Dearne, Rotherham

Salary: £17, 799 to £18, 531 pro rata

Hours: 27.5 hours per week

Contract Type: Temporary for 6 months

 

Role Purpose:

To offer a comprehensive catering provision for South Yorkshire Police.


Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be required to provide excellent levels of customer service at all times.

They must undertake the preparation and service for all foodstuffs as directed by the line manager, and ensure the unit maintains the highest possible standards of food hygiene and complies with all relevant legislation.

They also must place, check and take receipt of orders for all foodstuffs required for normal service as and when required or in the Catering Manager’s absence.

They must ensure compliance with the Force’s policies and procedures (HACCP).

The successful candidate will need to take monies from customers, using a cash register and perform correct cash-control within standard financial regulations as applicable.

They will need to ensure cleaning functions are carried out promptly and effectively and complete basic paperwork.

 

Skills and experience:

Essential

  • Basic Food Hygiene Qualification

Desirable

  • Intermediate food hygiene qualification
  • Customer care / Health and Safety training
  • Computer literate in Microsoft packages
  • Previous relevant catering experience, ideally in industrial catering
  • Ability to work at other South Yorkshire Police sites.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

All tattoos and piercings must be in line with South Yorkshire Police’s Appearance and Standards policy. Tattoos visible on your face, neck, hands or head are not permitted. Any tattoos which could be deemed inappropriate or cause offence will also not be accepted. If you have tattoos, you will need to make a declaration at the time of application.

Closing dates are not normally extended, other than in exceptional circumstances and agreement is made with the HR Manager, Recruitment and the Line Manager for the role.
