Details of role:

To manage the new Domestic Abuse Team to ensure a high quality of service to victims through effective investigation and offender management.

Role Purpose:

The purpose of the role will be to review all high risk district domestic violence incidents, set investigation/ safeguarding plans and allocate to appropriate staff. The remit of the team may extend to medium risk cases to prevent repeat victimisation and escalation to high, by contacting and offering support and advice and signposting them towards relevant external agencies.

The successful candidate will ensure necessary action is undertaken to safeguard the victim, providing a service to that victim tailored to their individual needs by signposting to relevant agencies and putting necessary safety measures in place.

Key Responsibilities:

The post holder will supervise a team of Domestic Violence Officers and Staff, allocating their work load, supporting their development, conducting all PDR’s and managing all their welfare needs.

The successful candidate will also ensure that all high risk DV Victims are referred to the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference and work with partnership agencies to develop a risk strategy to further protect the victims and their children.

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of attending and participating in meetings
  • Experience in updating and interrogating computer systems
  • Ability to compile reports
  • Knowledge of MARAC

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years has been identified for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
