Salary: Band F - £37,953 - £42,207

Hours: 37 Hours per Week

Contract: Temporary 12 months

Role Purpose:

The post holder will be the subject matter expert for South Yorkshire Police and Humberside Police and be responsible for evolving and designing technical infrastructure architect produces and solutions with new and current technologies in differing locations.  These will range from network, server, telephony, storage and database specialisms.

Some Key Responsibilities of the role are:

  • Supporting the Asset and Configuration Management, facilitating rapid and efficient planning, approval and implementation of Asset and Configuration changes.
  • Providing specialist technical skills and experience surrounding the set up and use of Asset, Configuration.
  • The production of required technical standards and policy and the design and creation of low-level design documentation for force projects.
  • Researching and recommending new products and for keeping abreast of all new technologies in the marketplace.
  • Be the point of contact on customer configuration management issues within designs.
  • Oversee the technical aspects of force programmes in alignment with organisational goals.

Skills and experience:

  • Strong knowledge of ITIL within an Infrastructure environment.
  • An understanding of project management, including Prince 2 and the ability to manage stakeholders.
  • A good understanding of network hardware technologies, CISCO preferred (Firewalls, Proxy Servers, Routers, Switches, WIFI, WAN Acceleration).
  • Knowledge of licence and asset management.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
