Contract Type: Temporary – 2 years 

As a Service Delivery Administrator, you will work as part of a team to provide support, maintenance and advice for a range of critical applications and systems across South Yorkshire and Humberside. 

To be considered for the role, you must have IT skills and be a good communicator in both written and oral. We are looking for someone that has the ability to remain calm under pressure, who is consistent in his or her approach to daily tasks and who is committed to customer service. 

Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience in the following areas: 

Project planning and methodologies e.g., PRINCE 2

Dealing with suppliers and contractors.

ITIL Foundation

Experience of business models and continuous improvement. 

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of a System Administrator include: 

  • Take responsibility for the administrative user support for Force IT Systems.
  • Provide second line support and expert advice in systems use, fault investigation and resolution.
  • Provide advice to other IT teams in relation to the Force Systems.
  • Assist in the implementation, maintenance and on-going development of systems and associated hardware.
  • Liaise with and supervise third party suppliers. 

Brief outline of day-to-day duties/responsibilities: 

  • Perform all specialist aspects of the system administration role to enable the team to provide ongoing support and maintenance for a range of critical applications, systems, and platforms across both forces.
  • Ensure that pro-active monitoring of all systems, applications and platforms takes place and that remedial action is instigated when required.
  • Ensure the best possible support is provided to force systems across South Yorkshire and Humberside Police and the delivery of the performance standards are followed.
  • Provide support to the Team Leader and Senior Analyst in order to achieve team, departmental and force objectives.
  • Contribute to the decision-making process of the team and support the Senior Analyst and Team Leader
  • Maintain system administration and procedural documentation in line with agreed best practice. 

Skills and experience: 

  • Hold a degree and/or significant experience of working with Information Technology.
  • Knowledge of the types of Systems or Applications supported by a System Administration Team.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-changing environment.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure, consistent in approach to daily tasks and committed to customer service.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
