Salary:                £26,565 - £30,420

Hours:                 37hrs

Contract Type: Permanent

Role Purpose:

Central to culture change and providing a training, awareness, and communications function for the Data Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify the behaviours we need to change to mitigate data risk and how we need to develop awareness, communications, and training for optimising data. Develop and maintain a data awareness program that effectively changes these behaviours, so our employees act in an appropriate manner, reducing the most risk to our organisation.
  • Ensure that our awareness program communicates our policies and requirements so that people know, understand, and can follow them.  Inform users of system, policy and process changes and expectations.
  • Create a positive program that engages employees, focusing on changing behaviours both at home and at work. Ultimately, we want our employees to demonstrate the same behaviours regardless of where they are or the devices they are using or the data they are accessing/using.
  • Research users and understand their data needs.  Communicate with and coordinate the activities of others.  Prioritise efforts on data that is most critical, and which has the greatest impact.
  • Create a metrics framework that can effectively measure these requirements. Document and share improvement measures and areas of best practice.
  • Ability to form complex ‘communications / messages’ in a simple, clear and concise manner to the various audiences within our organisation.  Design and implement a communications plan.  Display practical knowledge of different message distribution techniques to ensure end user communities understand and continually apply the required behavioural change necessary to reduce the ‘human factors’ risk.  Adapt communication to the needs of the audience with the use of newsletters, webinars, briefings, presentations, one to ones, handouts, posters etc.
  • Design appropriate training plans and effectively deliver training.  Research, design, develop and maintain learning materials that enhance the learning and engage the learner.  Use a range of learning techniques such as blended learning, teaching and presentations, adapting the training to the audience.  Engage in evidence-based research and keep abreast of advances and best practice.
  • Structure and maintain this program to be long term, so we are not changing just behaviours but culture.
  • Project management experience, the ability to plan, manage and maintain a complex, organisation wide program over the longer term.  Create and follow project plans and identify and mitigate risks for delivery.
  • Understanding of the concepts of information risks and the different elements that make up that risk.
  • Ensure that our data training/awareness/communications program meets all legislative, regulatory, APP, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Reports to: Data Futures Manager
