Role Purpose:

Undertake research and analysis of data, reporting key trends and anomalies and produce reports when required.  Analyse a wide range of data and information and deliver suitable reporting to support management activity and strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively interrogate a wide range of data sources to meet local and national requirements and make recommendations to continuously improve data collection, data quality and statistical analysis.
  • Analyse and compare data from multiple data sets.  
  • Use analytical and data management tools to profile, analyse, standardise, cleanse and transform data.  Create sophisticated workflows that incorporate machine learning algorithms to enrich data. 
  • Proactively identify data quality issues before they negatively impact the business through data quality dashboarding, reusable workflows and business rules.
  • Identify and develop performance data as required and interpret and present to appropriate audiences to ensure accountability and adherence to data standards. 
  • Identify performance gaps, formulate and suggest requirements, assist with the formulation of performance collection plans.
  • Develop and sustain effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners and present to audiences at the appropriate level, preparing and distributing both tactical and strategic reports.  Produce presentations and briefings to key stake holders and to senior staff and officers ensuring they are kept updated on areas of risk.  
  • Supply, with appropriate interpretation, results of analysis generated in response to demand requests.
  • Regularly review information gathering, recognising opportunities for the continuous development of management information.
  • Act in a consultative capacity in the design of service improvements identified and make recommendations on findings.
  • To assist in the development of effective procedures for delivering analytical products.
  • Commit to develop personal knowledge and skills in the field of performance analysis by exploiting available system and knowledge products
  • Understanding of all South Yorkshire Police systems and data sources so as data retrieval is quickly obtained.
  • Ensure observance and compliance with Data Protection principles.  
  • Reports to the Data Quality Controller.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
