Role Purpose:

As a Communications Data Investigator, Single Point of Contact (SPoC), you will be responsible for the lawful acquisition of communications data, in accordance with the Investigatory Powers Act 2016, and for providing specialist advice to Life at Risk, proactive and reactive investigations, crimes in action and intelligence operations.

This is a shift-based role working two-day shifts, two-night shifts and four days off.

Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking to recruit a Communications Data Investigator, Single Point of Contact (SPoC), who will provide South Yorkshire Police (SYP) with a single point of contact for the lawful acquisition of communications data in accordance with the Investigatory Powers Act (IPA) 2016.

Your main duties will include providing subject matter expertise, concerning the acquisition of communication data from Telecommunication Operators (TO), through online portals and direct contact.

You will be expected to display a solid understanding of current communication methods, including cellular/landline, social media, email, voice over internet and postal. You must be able to demonstrate proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and force systems.

To be considered for the role, you must be educated to A Level, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or suitable experience in a similar role. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate experience of briefing different levels within an organisation, including peers and senior managers.

The role will be a blend of office-based working, home working and agile working at various locations around the force.

Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of a one or two-week residential training package, at the College of Policing, Ryton.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
