SYP -  Investigation Training and Assessment Team (ITAT) Detective Sergeant

We have an exciting opportunity for a substantive Detective Sergeant to join South Yorkshire Police working within the Investigation Training and Assessment Team. You will be part of a team that ensures a quality learning journey for each student, high quality training and accreditation delivery to improve overall investigative standards. 

The main duties will include:

  • Managing staff within the unit, ensuring their standards remain high, welfare monitoring and support, and that their accreditations and CPD remain current.
  • Ensuring demand is managed from various sources, forward planning course deliveries and staff workloads, and managing ongoing portfolios and accreditations. Ensuring knowledge of the various entry routes training/accreditation requirements of various roles.
  • Ensuring that delivery methods, systems and processes are fit for purpose and provide value, quality and impact to the organisation.
  • To maintain robust quality assurance processes, the recording of this and drive the authenticity of these processes.
  • To review the outcomes of various processes, and report back to various working groups within the force
  • To liaise with key stakeholders both internally and externally, in order for the force to achieve its strategic aims.

In addition, the role also provides opportunities for training delivery and assessment/IQA qualifications.  The core hours are Mon-Fri, 8 x 4, with the expectation that you will be part of the night DS cadre. You will also be required to work flexibly and in all areas of the Force as and when demand dictates.

To be eligible to apply and transfer you must:

  • Be a substantive Detective Sergeant
  • Be a current serving police officer in a Home Office force.
  • Have no outstanding misconduct or integrity issues.
  • Have resided in the UK for three years immediately prior to submitting your application.
  • Must have successfully completed your probationary period with your Force prior and be substantive in post.
