Our IT department are looking to recruit a new team member to support IT systems that are used across both South Yorkshire and Humberside Police.

As a member of the joint force support team, you will assist with the management of operational force systems by supporting end users, providing an interface between information systems and both organisations. 

The successful candidate will have an IT background and be able to work alongside existing team members to develop their knowledge of key systems.

To be considered for the role, you must have substantial experience in research and design/ methodology/analysis and evaluation methods including the conducting of reviews, interviews, developments of questionnaires and associated benchmark activity.

Some of the key areas of responsibility will include:

Developing an understanding of the current IT system, working with business representatives to identify changes and support changes with other I.T professionals

Be the focal point for all business systems.

Participate in workshops, both face to face and via MS Teams to support system users.

Facilitate user groups and workshops to identify business requests for additional system functionality and make recommendations on the suitability and feasibility of user requests. 

Provide technical advice to develop these basic requests into technical system change requests that will assist system technical users and providers to develop additional and/or improved system functionality.

Note: it is a requirement of the role to work occasional overtime; evenings or weekends. 

Skills and experience:

  • Substantial experience in research and design/methodology/analysis and evaluation methods including the conducting of reviews, interviews, developments of questionnaires and associated benchmark activity.
  • Computer literate with practical experience of utilising process mapping/activity analysis techniques. Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision. 
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Ability to collate, analyse and evaluate large volumes of information to reach well-reasoned decisions with minimal supervision, demonstrated ability to use own initiative and judgement in the interpretation of data/information.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks undertaken and display a creative and innovative approach to fact finding and problem solving.
  • Substantial experience in research and design/methodology/analysis and evaluation methods including the conducting of reviews, interviews, developments of questionnaires and associated benchmark activity.

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
