Salary: Band B - £20,118 - £21,837 pro rata

Hours: 37 hours per week – Please note requests for Part time and Flexible hours will be considered.

Contract Type: Permanent

 

Role Purpose:

We are looking to recruit a Secretary within the Force Control Room, the successful applicant will provide secretarial/administrative support to District Command Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Upkeep of diaries, including the booking of appointments.
  • Undertake audio and copy typing.
  • Operate office, word processing and computer equipment.
  • Undertake reception duties and arrange hospitality.
  • Maintain and develop administrative, postal and filing procedures.
  • Undertake background research appropriate to the post.
  • Respond to telephone enquiries, queries.
  • Attend meetings, producing notes/minutes of meetings and progressing subsequent action.
  • Undertake typing duties required by Senior Officers as appropriate.
  • Communicate instructions and information, undertaking chasing as required on behalf of Command Team members.
  • Arrange local internal interviews.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post.

Skills and experience:

  • Previous experience of working in an Office environment
  • Previous use of Microsoft Applications including Word and Excel
  • Must be willing to work towards RSA Level 2 or equivalent typing Qualification (or currently hold)

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
