Role Purpose:

Assist in identifying issues and areas for improvement within the Force via Inspection and Review processes.  Support Strategic Delivery Unit in assessment delivery at local and force level. Deliver monitoring trackers in support of the planning processes. Act as liaison role for HMICFRS and other external monitoring bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in identifying issues and areas for improvement within the Force via Inspection and Review processes. Carry out assessment at local and force level using relevant tools and techniques, identify risk posed to the force. Undertake planning processes linked to the Performance Management Framework delivery and action plans linked to internal and external requirements

Support the corporate and local planning process including:

 

  • Identifying, developing, producing, and managing action plans to support the HMICFRS decision making processes within SYP. From this progressing required change, identifying, and highlighting risk to the Senior Command Team, and supporting the risk assessment process.
  • Acting as single point of contact for HMICFRS and other external monitoring bodies
  • Responsible for force wide governance support to business areas and thematic leads in the role requirements for HMICFRS and internal performance management framework delivery. This is a critical role ensuring all areas understand their roles and responsibilities as thematic leads and are prepared for future delivery requirements. 
  • Responsible for assessing the quality of evidence and informed delivery and planning in support of thematic and business lead area.
  • Briefing newly appointed Thematic Leads around expectations of the role from a strategic level, and supporting the governance portal delivery to reflect this
  • Representing SYP at the national HMICFRS FLO Meetings, delivering learning back to SCT and Strategic Leads
  • Liaising with other forces for benchmarking and inspection business areas.
  • Preparing and delivering detailed briefings for presentation to Senior Command Team and business leads as required
  • Supporting ongoing improvements to the force planning process aligned to the force’s strategic direction.
  • Providing project management support for the Force Management Statement delivery, supporting the organisation in meeting statutory deadlines
  • Facilitating the support to HMICFRS and other external inspections within force, in liaison and delivery of planning and administrative support. 
  • Responsible for delivery of all document collection exercises alongside the Performance Review Officer
  • Identifying and facilitating the new HMICFRS requirements in a rapidly changing environment, informing SCT of any impact
  • Multiple precis reporting of all HMICFRS publications and other national documentation relating to policing performance, or reputational public risk or harm for South Yorkshire Police
  • Supporting the force wide understanding of the requirements from HMICFRS, and our improvement plans such as attending boards, meetings, workshops to outline the strategic position and future focus
  • Developing and maintaining relationships internally and with external parties, such as HMICFRS, to ensure effective communication and delivery of requirements.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
