We are looking to recruit our first Enterprise Architect to head up the existing team of Technical Architects and work as part of an extended IT Senior Leadership Team. The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for enhancing the quality of IT products and services by working with the business units and finding technology solutions to meet their needs.  The successful candidate will have a broad technology background and be able to include top vendors in their solution strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing a deep understanding of the current IT set-up, its strengths and opportunities to leverage better performance and lower running costs.
  • Develop and maintain the IT architecture and plan the roadmap for enhancing the IT offering in line with business strategy.
  • Work with the business units to understand requirements and design solutions that will deliver their strategic objectives.
  • Plan the modernisation of tools used to support the current IT set-up and retire out of date ones.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the IT Strategy and ensure that it continues to deliver quality services to business units and supports the strategic objectives.
  • Be the focal point for all strategic aspects relating to the development of IT services as they move to the cloud and as core business systems are refreshed.
  • Own the IT Enterprise Architecture, Master Data and Architectural Standards, working closely with the business units to create a future roadmap with a focus on moving away from legacy systems.

Skills and experience:

  • Holds a diploma level qualification (or higher) in a relevant discipline or can demonstrate comparable practical experience.
  • Has a proven record of accomplishments in leading large-scale architectural projects using a recognised Enterprise Architecture framework.
  • Detailed knowledge of the application of ITIL framework and Prince2 methodology.
  • Can demonstrate outstanding problem solving and analytical skills to resolve issues deliver agreed solutions, including presenting technical ideas and concepts in a simple and logical way.
  • Robust knowledge of security architecture and IT Quality Assurance processes.
  • Advanced experience of working within a mobile, cloud and infrastructure environment.
  • Effective management and leadership in developing and delivering strategies.
  • Experience of aligning business strategic objectives with practical IT solutions.
  • Presenting complex solutions to non-IT executives using easy to understand language.
  • Understanding the business needs for information security and privacy.
  • Knowledge of data structures, data systems and tools, both on-premises and in cloud environments

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
