ENGAGEMENT AND CONSULTATION OFFICER

Location: Carbrook, Sheffield (combination of home and office working)

Salary: £26,016 - £29,793 (subject to experience)

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Role purpose:

The Office of the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner is looking to appoint an Engagement and Consultation Officer to take our community engagement to the next level.

We are looking for a creative thinker with exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively engage with individuals, communities, partner organisations and businesses across a range of platforms.

Key responsibilities:

You will work as part of the Engagement and Communications Team to deliver the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Engagement and Communications Strategy across South Yorkshire. You will ensure that the views and concerns of all communities on policing and crime matters are heard and are fed into the development of the Police and Crime Plan.

Using your expertise, you will utilise a variety of different tools, including face-to-face engagement, social media, online surveys and local community-based forums and groups to maximise our levels of engagement and ensure the voice of South Yorkshire is represented in the setting of the policing priorities for the county.

You will develop and deliver consultation exercises, focus groups and public surveys in order to understand the public’s views on policing and crime for South Yorkshire, in line with the Police and Crime Commissioner’s statutory responsibilities.

As an excellent communicator, you will organise programmes involving multi-agency partnerships and use your skills to build productive relationships with colleagues and partners while also building and maintain links with the community to increase confidence.

The capability to travel to different locations across the county is essential in order to undertake all assignments in a timely manner. Due to the requirement to work flexibly and unsocial hours, public transport may not be available, therefore a full UK driving licence is considered essential.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work at the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years is required for this role, and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment within the OPCC.

Staff are currently working from home with some office attendance during the Covid19 pandemic, however the post will usually be based at Carbrook House with a combination of homeworking
