We have an exciting opportunity for a Local Referral Unit Manager to join our team, based at the Sheffield Safeguarding Hub with the local Authority.

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage a team within children and adults safeguarding, protecting vulnerable people.
  • Be able to manage and prioritise risk. 
  • Have good communication skills with partner agencies.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • To risk assess and manage safeguarding referrals for adults and children
  • Be responsible for Strategy meetings and Child Protection Conferences (CPCs).
  • To represent South Yorkshire Police at multi agency meetings in respect of Child and Adult Safeguarding.
  • To manage any decisions, on behalf of South Yorkshire Police about the need for a child protection plan and /or adult risk management plan in the best’s interests of the vulnerable person.
  • To ensure force safeguarding policies are maintained in accordance with legislative change.
  • To manage any issues where there remains concern for the safety of an adult/child.
  • To supervise a team, managing their wellbeing, welfare and development.

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in Child Protection.
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency safeguarding environment.
  • Experience of leading multi agencies approach meetings.
  • Experience in updating and interrogating computer systems.
  • Experience of producing Management reports.
  • Supervisory Experience

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
