Salary: Band C (£22,599 - £25,278)

Hours: 18.5 per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Role Purpose:

Responsible for the efficient management of file preparation within CJU structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prosecution of specified proceedings within the Magistrates Court.
  • Check validity of all documents produced, dealing with any legal arguments, resulting case files, including driving disqualifications, arranging trials and adjournment dates and ensuring costs are applied for on behalf of South Yorkshire Police
  • Preparation of crime files for hearings in the Magistrates and Crown court. This involves checking and upgrading electronic files to ensure they are evidentially sufficient for process to court.
  • Liaison with HMCTS, CPS and with other prosecuting agencies, eg Department of Vehicle Licensing, HM Customs and Excise and also enquiries from defendants where appropriate.
  • Office based work, accessing various systems and network.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
