An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and competent individual to join South Yorkshire Police as a Secretary in Rotherham District.

The successful candidate will provide secretarial/administrative support to our District Command Team.  The Secretary post provides diary management, minute taking, prepares agendas and completes action schedules, manages the complaints, greets visitors and takes telephone calls. This position is to cover the working days of Mondays and Tuesdays. 

To be considered you must have previous experience of Microsoft Applications, including Word and Excel and hold RSA Level 2 or equivalent typing qualification and ideally, you will have shorthand skills.

Role Purpose:

Provide secretarial/administrative support to the District Command Team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Upkeep of diaries, including the booking of appointments.

 

  • Undertake audio and copy typing.

 

  • Operate office, word processing and computer equipment.

 

  • Undertake reception duties and arrange hospitality.

 

  • Maintain and develop administrative, postal and filing procedures.

 

  • Undertake background research appropriate to the post.

 

  • Respond to telephone enquiries, queries.

 

  • Attend meetings, producing notes/minutes of meetings and progressing subsequent action.

 

  • Undertake typing duties required by Senior Officers as appropriate.

 

  • Communicate instructions and information, undertaking chasing as required on behalf of Command Team members.

 

  • Arrange local internal interviews.

 

  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
