Salary: £18,951 - £20,619 (Pro-rata for part time hours)

Hours: 37 and 17 hours per week

Contract Type: Temporary until 30 June 2020

Role Purpose:

Produce accurate summarised accounts of tape-recorded interviews of Suspects (ROSI) and Witnesses (ROWI).

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicants will produce summarised unbiased accounts of tape-recorded interviews to a standard acceptable for court purposes using word processing equipment, be responsible for the security of tape-recorded interviews.

You will also maintain a register of tape /Recordings of taped interviews whilst liaising with the internal/external agencies.

You may be required to work after normal hours/weekends on overtime or to provide cover for bank holidays on a rota basis.

Skills and experience:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of RSA II or OCR typewriting or equivalent.
  • Experience in audio typing.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Word packages.
  • Must be able to provide accurate typing work whilst working under pressure (You will be required to undertake an audio typing and typing test at interview).

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years has been identified for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

Any tattoos which could be deemed inappropriate or cause offence will also not be accepted. If you have tattoos, you will need to make a declaration at the time of application.

Closing dates are not normally extended, other than in exceptional circumstances and agreement is made with the HR Manager, Recruitment and the Line Manager for the role.
