The successful applicant will collate episodes of Missing Persons and identify repeat missing persons, hot-spot areas and locations.  Share information with other agencies creating a multi-agency / safeguarding solution.  Liaise with other relevant agencies and represent SYP in missing person enquiries and meetings. Develop specialist skills and knowledge about missing people and provide a more consistent and efficient response to the missing person. 

 

Maintain close links with other agencies in order to work together to formulate intervention plans for persistent or particularly vulnerable missing persons and also maintain appropriate contact with and give support to the families of long term or high risk missing persons.

 

The successful applicant will also work closely with the local Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) teams to identify and intervene in cases of missing from home children who may be at risk of CSE.  Target those who seek to harbour persistent or vulnerable missing persons and maintain contact with local children’s homes to build better relationships.  Attend ‘scenes’ of Missing Persons’ home addresses. Conduct return-home interviews with Missing Persons when appropriate.

 

Monitor the Missing Persons System and ensure timely and accurate recording of missing persons details onto the database, whilst ensuring that intelligence is extracted from witnesses (in the form of statements if necessary) including family and friends to provide full background and information regarding the Missing Person.  Liaise with the Crime Recording Bureau, record all reported crimes in accordance with National Recording Standards.

 

Ensure the timely submission of intelligence by National Intelligence reports and liaise with police supervisors re ongoing enquiries.
