We are looking for a Support Officer (Development) to join our Information Services team based at either Nunnery Square, Sheffield or Melton, Hull. This role sits within Information Services, which is a collaboration between South Yorkshire Police & Humberside Police and delivers a range of IT services for both forces.  The team has been in existence for circa 3 years now and has delivered in excess of 30 successful ‘sprints’, all delivering benefit to the business. There is a tangible outcome to your efforts, which in turn brings an enormous amount of self satisfaction.  You are given both the freedom and flexibility to be creative and innovative.

Role Purpose:

The post holder will work as part of an agile team to analyse, plan and develop new services across SYP and HP, in line with IS strategies and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The post holder will undertake systems analysis, design and development of new applications and enhancements to existing systems using agile approaches according to recognised standards.
  • The post holder will undertake and support Unit and Integration testing, User Acceptance Testing and software releases, utilising standard tools and techniques, and document the release for handover to training, UAT and live deployments.
  • The post holder will provide on-going support for the in-house developed applications via referrals from Service Desk and affect rapid response and resolution to urgent system problems.
  • Whilst the strength of our team lies in working autonomously, staff are to be accountable in one specific area.
  • This vacancy would be accountable for monitoring work requests, scoping future work and deputising for the Scrum Master (https://www.scrumalliance.org/) we embrace Scrum as our definitive working methodology.

Skills and experience:

It is essential that you have experience in:

  • Software development
  • JQuery
  • HTML (HyperText Markup Language)
  • SQL
  • Working as part of a team
  • Scrum / Agile development

It is desirable you have experience in:

  • PHP
  • CSS (Cascading Style Sheet)
  • SharePoint 2013
  • ASP.Net
