Salary: £18,951 - £20,619

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Temporary (approx 12 months)

 

Role Purpose:

Handle all aspects of property coming into police possession appropriately, complying with legislation and force policy.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Receive property from Interim stores situated throughout the District and transport to Central Property Store (including drugs, firearms and cash).
  • Record and maintain property other than found in a central register/computer database.
  • Label property for easy identification.
  • Maintain property stores using logical system for easy access (Main store and Interim stores).
  • Maintain the chasing system and make the necessary arrangements for the disposal of property, including auctions.
  • Deal with members of the public with property enquiries.
  • Deal with solicitors’ letters regarding property enquiries.
  • Maintain the Force drugs database.
  • Drive the Property Van when required.
  • Work after normal hours/weekends on overtime and prepared to travel to any location within the District, when required.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the position of the Property Store Clerk.

Skills and Experience Required:

Essential Criteria: -

  • Experience of working in an administrative role.
  • Experience of dealing with members of the public, both face to face and over the telephone.
  • Computer literate with experience of data input and retrieval using Microsoft applications.
  • Current clean Driving Licence.

Desirable Criteria: -

  • Previous experience of working with storage systems.
  • Knowledge of First Aid, Manual Handling, Health and Safety and COSHH regulations.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

Any tattoos which could be deemed inappropriate or cause offence will also not be accepted. If you have tattoos, you will need to make a declaration at the time of application.

Closing dates are not normally extended, other than in exceptional circumstances and agreement is made with the HR Manager, Recruitment and the Line Manager for the role.
