Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Temporary (until March 2022)

 

Whilst this role is a fixed term contract up to March 2022, there may be the possibility of extending the work of the TEC team and this post beyond this date.

Role Purpose:

South Yorkshire Police is seeking a Project Support Officer to be part of its Technology Enabled Change Programme.  The Programme has been established to identify and implement IT solutions to make policing and business processes more efficient.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills and knowledge to support policing in South Yorkshire. You will be part of a dynamic, fast-paced team delivering solutions across the force. In this role, there will be the opportunity to gain knowledge of public sector working and experience of problem solving in a change environment.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will have the skills to:-

  • Undertake business administrative, procurement and finance administrative tasks in support of the Programme.
  • Actively assist in the day to day delivery of planning and monitoring in all aspects of the work programme to ensure progress is in accordance with the delivery of desired outcomes.
  • Work as part of the team, assisting colleagues on individual projects and working with external agencies/partners and suppliers.
  • Provide support, advice and knowledge.
  • Contribute in decision making and support the TEC Programme Manager.
  • Support project activities such as workshops (including facilitation), attending meetings etc.
  • Monitor key activities on the projects such as action plans, risk registers etc.
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours and travel around and outside of the force area.

Skills and experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of project planning and methodologies
  • Ability to collate information and assimilate into a report.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Previous experience of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Power point
  • Knowledge and experience of business models and continuous improvement models.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
