Role: Enquiry Desk Assistant

Location:  Doncaster

Salary: £19,452 - £21,135 pro rata*

Hours: 16 Hours per week, which includes weekend working

Contract Type: Fixed term contract until September 2022

*A shift allowance and weekend working allowance is also payable in accordance with the shift system which currently operates.

Role Purpose:

The successful candidate should expect to provide a high standard of customer service when dealing with members of the public, either face to face, at the counter or indirectly over the telephone.  As well as deal efficiently and courteously, remaining professional at all times even when faced with difficult, sensitive and challenging situations and will show resilience when under pressure and confidence when working alone.

The successful candidate will also complete and process necessary documentation relating to enquiries, complying with legislation and policy and finally must be able to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.

If you have clerical experience and are, willing to work shifts and weekends this could be the ideal job for you.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accept and record items of property and cash handed in by members of the public
  • Maintain enquiry desk records
  • Responsibility for security of access through the public reception area
  • Receiving persons reporting on bail
  • Reporting persons for minor offences and completed documentation
  • Taking initial reports of crimes and road traffic accidents
  • Carry out clerical and administrative duties
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of dealing with face to face enquiries from members of the public.
  • Experience of using computer packages including MS Word, Excel
  • Previous clerical experience

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity.  A minimum checkable history of 3 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
