An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate to join the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) as a Planning and Performance Assistant. This new role will support the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) in assessing progress made in delivering the priorities set out in his Police and Crime Plan: ‘Putting Safety First’.

The PCC as a directly elected official, is accountable to the public of South Yorkshire for the delivery of efficient and effective policing services. He has a duty to involve and engage the public, and wider stakeholders, so that their views can be considered and fed into the decision-making process.

As Planning and Performance Assistant you will be expected to monitor, prepare and analyse/ interpret performance information affecting the criminal justice arena, as well as supporting the identification of areas for improvement on key aspects of service delivery. Supporting the development and design of surveys will also be a key aspect of the role, as will working with the Community Engagement and Communications Team in their activity helping them to monitor, assess and interpret public opinion and support the identification of its impact on the PCC’s policy development and planning.

The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level in a subject with statistical content. Previous knowledge and/or experience of working with statistical data, both qualitative and quantitative, is essential to this role as is having experience of Microsoft applications including Word and Excel, and the ability to travel around South Yorkshire.
