*Salary progression to the higher points on this pay scale dependent upon successful completion of development programme and accreditation being achieved.

As an integral part of an Investigation Team you will provide administrative support, in particular to the Investigations Officer, in the complex case building function in relation to the investigation of any Homicide or Serious Major Crime to result in the successful prosecution of offenders.

We are offering this opportunity to candidates with excellent organisational skills who have a good command of English both verbally and in writing. Candidates must be willing to undertake and successfully complete the Ilex Certificate of Criminal Justice Administration within one year of appointment, and will also be required to successfully complete other relevant training courses required for the role.

Role Purpose:

To assist the Investigations Officers in relation to the roles of exhibits officer and disclosure officer and the preparation of files.

Key Responsibilities. These include:

In accordance with the agreed prosecution processes, as directed, upgrade and prepare evidential files that comply with the National File Standard and Criminal Procedure Rules, producing exhibits for court, i.e. 999 calls, body worn video and CCTV footage, when necessary within mandated and statutory timescales.

Assist in the preparation, construction and submission of files and disclosure in compliance with current legislation, guidance and rules.

In response to Crown Prosecution Service requests, as directed prioritise and action further evidential enquiries and reply to those enquiries within agreed time-scales.

When required, attend Court to give evidence in relation to case progression and evidential matters in order to support the prosecution case.

Skills and experience:

You will need a basic working knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and relevant partner agencies, as well as computerised applications and spreadsheet packages, with the ability to extract information from databases.

In addition, you must be able work flexibly to suit business needs, be willing and have the ability to travel for business purposes and be willing to work at other sites across the Force area other than your normal place of work as and when required. The role of Investigative Support Assistant also requires that candidates have the ability to deal with cases that could be of an explicit or disturbing nature.

Eligibility:
