Role: IS Project Manager – 2 Positions available (February 2021)

Location: Nunnery Square, Sheffield and Melton, Humberside

Salary: £30, 777- £35, 484 per annum

Hours: 37 Hours per Week

Contract Type: 1 x Permanent & 1 x Temporary – March 2022

The two roles require the post holders to work as part of a team to analyse , plan and manage the implementation of information technology aspects across South Yorkshire and Humberside Police, in line with IS strategies and business requirements.

The successful candidates will be expected to manage from conception to implementation a number of large-scale projects at any one time, as well as providing support to the Team Leader and other members of the Projects and Programmes Team.

Duties include managing and overseeing workshops, project-planning meetings, attendance at board meetings with senior officers and staff.

To be considered you will have the ITIL Foundation qualification and substantial experience of delivering IS projects and overseeing a varied work portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Team Leader in assessing the impact of new requests of work for both the current business processes and existing IT systems, and new systems and or services that require IS implementations.
  • Produce well-structured high quality project documentation to Prince II standards, providing briefing paperwork and reports such as risk and issues logs, action plans and detailed project plans for the respective Project Boards, senior management and other parties as appropriate.
  • Write and present Project documentation containing a technical element in such a way as to make the information understandable to the target audience, enabling them to make informed decisions based on that information.
  • Manage effectively the IS resourcing, technical planning, procurement and implementation of IT aspects of force development projects from initial conception and planning to implementation and subsequent monitoring. Ensuring the transition into service of new systems and or services is managed and approved.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • ITIL Foundation Qualification.
  • Substantial experience of project planning and methodologies - Prince 2.
  • High level of technical understanding and ability to work alongside technical team members.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
