Role Purpose:

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Specialist Crime Services department of South Yorkshire Police, for a CCTV Coordinator. As a CCTV Coordinator you will contribute to and agree CCTV strategy with the Senior Investigations Officer (SIO) at the commencement of a major criminal investigation. You will be responsible for examining CCTV footage and mobile phones to identify evidential material and prepare the necessary documentation for further enquires by divisional officers.

The successful candidate will also be expected to lead by example and behave in line with the Police Code of Ethics ensuring that the force values and behavioural expectations are clearly understood and considered by managers, officers and staff in their decision making and actions; reinforcing and influencing them through all interactions and processes.

A basic knowledge of computer packages, including Microsoft is essential, as well as, an ability to travel within the Force Area and a willingness to work flexible hours.

Please note the long-term plan for the working location of this role to be in Sheffield.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the exchange of information via various communication channels between the Police and CCTV maximises the ability to adopt a pro-active intelligence led approach.
  • Prepare written statements and responses to CPS requests, securing all tapes and arranging for all property to be returned at the conclusion of proceedings.
  • Maintain a database of all requests for CCTV evidence and results at court, to be utilised in conjunction with other force systems to identify and evaluate the levels of success attributable to CCTV.
  • Provide professional advice and assistance to external agencies and partners and senior management in relation to CCTV technology procedures, best practice and changes in legislation thereby reducing volume priority crime.

Skills and experience:

  • A basic knowledge of and is able to operate a range of computer packages including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work throughout the force area.
  • Willing to work flexible hours.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years has been identified for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
