An exciting opportunity has arisen within one of our Scientific Crime Scene Departments that could be right for you.

As a Digital Forensic Administration Assistant, you will provide administrative support to the Digital Forensics Unit. You will be responsible for receiving and recording the movement of exhibits into and out of the unit.

To be considered, you must have experience of maintaining a high level of confidentiality and managing issues of a sensitive nature along with previous administrative experience.

Ideally, you will have some understanding of police systems and processes, including criminal investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality checking the submission paperwork from officers to ensure compliance with SYP policies and procedures as well as National Guidelines.
  • Assisting Forensic examiners where required with administrative duties, printing, creating discs/USBs.
  • Maintaining and managing a booking in procedure for the DFU viewing room.
  • Responsible for exhibit handling, including receiving exhibits into the unit and preparing exhibits for dispatch.
  • Ensuring the correct storage of exhibits and managing the internal DFU property stores.

Skills and experience:

  • Previous administrative and computer experience
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, Email and the internet
  • Complete relevant level of security vetting clearance

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
