Role Purpose:

The post of Performance and Governance Analyst sits within the Performance Management Unit reporting to the Performance Review Officer. There are a number of Performance and Governance Analysts within the Unit, each with specific roles and responsibilities. This post is responsible for the delivery of accurate and timely performance management reporting, with a specific focus on crime datasets, and the process of crime investigation and management.

If you have previous experience in a statistical and performance management environment, and are passionate about supporting improvements through effective delivery of information, then this could be the role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

The policing environment is broad and the role requires the ability to

  • display good communication skills both written and oral
  • remain calm under pressure with a consistent in approach to daily tasks
  • deliver excellent customer service
  • apply a problem solving approach to identifying the detail of customer requirements
  • extract data from systems
  • analyse and interpret data with a critical eye for detail within datasets
  • identify issues of data accuracy and commit to improving data quality within systems
  • translate complex datasets into understandable formats

All work will support the focus of the force in delivering an outstanding service to the public of South Yorkshire.

Skills and experience. The requirement includes:

A high level aptitude of IT such as Microsoft Packages (e.g. Excel)

Ability to prepare and present reports from complex data.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
