Role Purpose:

As a Commercial Support Officer, you will work as part of a team delivering value for money outcomes through effective business and supplier liaison. This includes purchasing of information technology products and services, following commercial assurance processes and administering asset management procedures.

If you have experience of billing/invoicing analysis, cost reduction and have an understanding of budgeting and governance processes, this could be the job for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate purchase requisitions to determine compliance with Standing Orders; rejecting/escalating non-compliance to the Commercial and Asset Manager.
  • Respond to urgent requests from front line and senior officers.
  • Collect data relating to purchases/invoicing and maintaining records.
  • Assist Finance / IS in producing budgetary estimates
  • Provide support and guidance to the business, projects and IS teams on Standing Orders.

Skills and experience

This includes:

  • Able to deal with confidential / sensitive matters and maintain confidence.
  • Computer literate including use of Microsoft Office, Outlook or similar and the internet.
  • Able to deal with internal customers effectively, providing responsive and appropriate levels of service.
  • Experience of engaging with suppliers / managing billing & invoicing.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years / 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
