South Yorkshire Police’s Support Volunteers (PSVs) gives the public the opportunity to support the Force in making South Yorkshire one of the safest counties in the UK.

As a Community Safety Volunteer you will support and assist police officers, PCSOs and support staff in the dissemination of crime prevention and related community safety initiatives.

Becoming a PSV will provide you with an opportunity to make a difference and provide reassurance to your community.

We are aware that your time is precious and to help assist you undertake the role you have chosen as effectively as possible South Yorkshire Police will provide:

Training - An induction programme and on the job training will be provided. No PSV will be expected to undertake any role that they have not been fully trained to undertake.

Support - You will be provided with guidance, advice and support to help assist you carry out your activities.

Expenses - where appropriate you will be reimbursed for out of pocket expenses.

Vetting - PSVs with access to police premises will be expected to undergo force vetting. In circumstances where PSVs will come into contact with vulnerable adults or children then a CRB check will be undertaken.
