Force Intelligence Cell Detective Sergeant

Applications invited from Detective Sergeants to work within the Force Intelligence Cell.

Role:

To supervise a team of intelligence officers to gather, develop and disseminate intelligence in support of local and national crime investigations in line with strategic policing requirements and specified priorities

To apply applicants must have:

  • College of Policing Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) Qualification (to complete within 12 months of appointment), and continued IPP compliance.
  • Experience of leading diverse teams.
  • An understanding of Investigatory Powers Act 2016 and Management of Police Information (MoPI) and other relevant legislation.
  • Experience in developing intelligence products.

And be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of leading diverse teams.
  • Able to set out logical arguments clearly, adapting language, form and message to meet the needs of different people / audiences.
  • Able to plan ahead, to allocate work appropriately within the team and to identify and mitigate risks to delivery.
  • Able to identify key stakeholders, understand potential roles and to take appropriate steps to understand their needs and concerns.

To be eligible to transfer you must:

  • Be a current serving police officer in a Home Office force (Officers from British Transport Police, Police Service Northern Ireland, Police of Scotland & Ministry of Defence are assessed on a case-by-case basis).
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
  • Have resided in the UK for three years immediately prior to submitting your application.
  • Must have successfully completed your probationary period with your Force prior to submitting your application.

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be invited to a competency-based interview, based on the Competency & Values Framework for Policing (CVF). 

Successful applicants will be guided through the transferee process and will be required to undergo the following checks:

  • Sickness Criteria
  • Misconduct
  • Tattoos

South Yorkshire Police offer relocation and removal expenses up to a maximum of £8000 to transferring officers currently living outside of the force area and at least 50 miles from their permanent place of work.
