Role Purpose:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced IT professional to lead the Operations function for the joint IT service between South Yorkshire Police and Humberside Police.

Key Responsibilities:

As a key member of the IT Management team, you will be responsible for the core IT infrastructure including Networks, Telephony, Critical Voice systems, Agile/Mobile working, Datacentre Operations, Disaster Recovery as well as managing the Commercial and IT Asset teams.

Both Forces are on an upward trajectory and committed to maximising their investment in technology and the use of agile technologies for mobile working is a key enabler to driving up the effectiveness of front line officers and staff.

Skills and experience:

The successful applicant will be educated to degree level (or equivalent qualification or relevant applied experience), whilst having detailed knowledge of land mobile, data communication and associated infrastructure.

Previous experience of large scale mobile communications deployments and Unified Communications principles are a requirement of the role. 

You will have strong demonstrable background experience of managing substantial IT infrastructure based around Microsoft, VMware and Cisco technologies, ideally gained working in critical environments. You will be driven by the desire to constantly improve both the technology platforms you are responsible for and the level of customer service and engagement you provide. As a keen innovator, you will always be looking at new technologies and the ways in which they can benefit the lives of our front line officers or the public they serve.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years has been identified for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
