Humberside Police are recruiting for an Evidential Property Store Supervisor. The purpose of the role is to supervise, support and train Evidential Property Officers to ensure that and effective and efficient property service is provided. The team maintain the safe keeping and recording of property whilst in police custody and supervise processes to eventual disposal, while also providing guidance and advice to Managers/Police Officers and Police Staff on Property related issues.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and allocates work to Property Officers to ensure that objectives are achieved, and resources and skills are utilised in the most effective manner.
  • Determine work targets, monitor results, and review performance of staff, ensuring developmental, training and welfare needs are met.
  • Ensures the integrity of systems and all policies and procedures are documented, continually developed and easily accessible to all staff within the Property Office.
  • Provides ad-hoc training to new Police Officers and Police Staff (PCSO’s, Investigating Officers etc.) who may come into contact with the seizure of property, ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines relating to found and other than found property.
  • Maintains information/management systems to ensure the best use is made of developments in technology and information handling systems to support operational requirements.
  • Receives, stores and disposes firearms / shotguns/ ammunition, in accordance with current Humberside Police firearms procedures and in liaison with the Firearms Licensing Department where necessary.
  • Assists the Insurance Officer/Business Support Manager in providing a central point of contact for the Force in relation to all Property related issues.
  • Produces ad-hoc reports and management information as required.

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in a customer orientated field.
  • Experience of staff supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in person and using telephone equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and engagement at all levels.
  • Computer literacy/keyboard skills including Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision when required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be assertive and remain polite and calm in difficult situations.
  • Demonstrates accurate and methodical overview with a particular eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Driving license and be willing to drive around the force estate.
