We are recruiting for a Buildings Surveyor, to help support our Estate Service department with the management of the maintenance and repair of all Humberside Police buildings. Role Details:

  • Manages a programme of building maintenance and minor capital works, arranging work schedules and access to sites with clients and contractors, verifying contractor attendance, compliance with the requirements of the specification and the quality of work on site.
  • Checks worksheets, organises any required remedial works and submits accounts updating in house database and preparing monthly reports on contractor performance.
  • Analyses items of reported reactive maintenance to identify recurring faults and identify problems. Investigates and makes recommendations to resolve identified problems and ensuring current regulatory compliance of the building and site.
  • Undertakes post completion inspections of works to verify compliance and quality of workmanship, resolving technical issues and reviewing the accuracy of invoices.
  • Undertakes building surveys of sites, checking the utilization and currency of plans and records and updates the condition survey database including AutoCAD plans in conjunction with the Buildings Administrator.
  • Manages the Estates Service requirements on infrastructure and systems for Fire Risk Assessments (FRA).
  • Attends departmental and other meetings, preparing written reports, technical specifications and tender documentation, using companies procured through established frameworks.

 

What is Required?

  • Literate and numerate.
  • Computer literate.
  • HNC/D in Building Studies or related qualification.
  • Relevant Health and Safety qualification, e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Has achieved or commits to working towards Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.
  • Possess an excellent understanding of the practical application of building maintenance/building engineering services repairs and maintenance processes.
  • Has knowledge of proximity access systems, database systems, ordering and invoicing for systems used for financial control.
  • Substantial experience working in property management related environment.
  • Experience of maintaining databases and researching data from computerised recording systems.
  • Experience of building contract administration.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work and resolve queries with external agencies with a professional manner.
  • Shows discretion when dealing with sensitive material.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make and justify decisions using own initiative and judgement.

Further Information:
