Vacancy Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding investigator, to lead our CID function who has responsibility for volume crime and serious and acquisitive crime across the East Riding of Yorkshire, working closely with Hull CID within the Local Policing Command, on the North bank. 

Recognising the commitment of moving to a different Force area, the Force will do its upmost to ensure the successful post holder will not move post for a minimum of 2 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide an effective and efficient day-to-day deployment of resources across the command ensuring that community and corporate needs are met, in accordance with Force plans and priorities.
  • Has ownership or acts as OIC for the most serious and complex investigations allocated to Communities Command and /or through oversight directs investigative activity.
  • Acts as volume crime manager taking ownership of quantity and quality of investigations.
  • Has responsibility for maintaining teams appropriate training accreditation

Skills and experience required from applicants for this role:

  • Be a current serving police officer in a Home Office Force (Officers from British Transport Police, Police Service Northern Ireland, Police of Scotland & Ministry of Defence are assessed on a case by case basis)
  • Is of the rank of Inspector or is in the promotion pool and is eligible to be promoted.
  • Has successfully completed the ICIDP programme or equivalent nationally recognised Detective course.
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of relevant criminal law, especially PACE.
  • To maintain PIP level 2 accreditation by completing a portfolio in relation to investigation, victims and suspects.
