A Senior Engineer (Database) is required for South Yorkshire & Humberside Police IS Data Services, working as part of a dynamic agile team across South Yorkshire & Humberside, providing senior Oracle & SQL Server estate implementation and management for core projects and programmes, frontline and back office systems, whilst guiding the team and business through daily critical database related issues.  

As a senior member, the role also requires inclusion in the Data Services oncall rota for critical out of hours issues.

-          Shared business intelligence & data warehouse (ERP, Demand, Performance & KPI, Forecasting & Profiling, MI, QA, Intel)

-          Extensive Oracle & SQL Server estate

-          ERP (HR, Payroll, Finance, Procurement, Duties & Training)

-          Data application and integration

Reporting to the Data Services Manager, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to experience and obtain a range of high value industry skills, whilst developing technical and business strengths towards personal and force goals.

A senior member of the team, the role enables the successful candidate to assist with team mentoring and coaching, deputising for Data Service Manager.


Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of deploying database solutions and services, SQL / PLSQL & TSQL, supporting critical project and programmes deliveries and a desire to work in a challenging & innovative environment.

 

Key Skills & Experience (5 yrs min experience)

-       DBA with Oracle (11g, 12c) (Linux & Windows) and or SQL Server

-       High availability and Disaster Recovery Implementations

-       Performance tuning

-       SQL, PLSQL & TSQL

-       OCP & MCP

 

Essential experience & knowledge

-          Agile working principles

-          Computing Degree or equivalent

-          ITIL framework

-          SC clearance eligible

Ability to communicate effectively with product owners and stakeholders
