The post holder will be required to manage all aspects of Data Services within Information Services for both Humberside Police and South Yorkshire Police.  You will be joining Information Services at an exciting time as the IT industry and government begins to embrace Cloud services, which provides for opportunities and challenges in meeting the needs of two police services ensuring efficiency and value for money balanced against security & commercial considerations

 

The main duties will include:

  • Responsibility for providing a range of services based around the data stored with South Yorkshire Police and Humberside Police IT systems, ensuring there is a clear Data Strategy
  • To champion the use of Enterprise Reporting tools in direct relation to achievement of business benefits, ensuring resource and effort reduction.
  • Contribute to ensuring the overall quality of data within the forces in particular in relation to migration from legacy systems to collaborative single systems
  • Support initiatives such as Crime Prevention where models for mechanisms to identify information from data is required
  • To be at the forefront of ensuring that the data held within Force IT systems is made visible to the senior officers for taking action to improve business processes. 
  • Responsibility for managing the ORACLE and SQL Server Database estate ensuring backup, DR and Business Continuity procedures are followed.
  • Responsibility for testing and keeping them up to date across geographic locations within both Humberside Police and South Yorkshire Police areas.
  • Monitoring all related systems and applications for the provision of pro-active support, performance and the provision of KPI’s with respect to availability.

Specialist Knowledge is essential in the following areas:

  • Experience as a Business Intelligence architect at a strategic level
  • Experience of database solutions (Oracle, Ms SQL Server)
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence Data modelling techniques for Data Warehouse
  • Experiencing of managing, coaching and developing staff in the above areas

 

Desirable specialist knowledge in Oracle tools (OBIEE) and ETl, Power BI, E-business and Fusion products, JIRA,  ITIL Configuration management and knowledge of Prince2 and Agile project management

 

Successful candidate will be expected to have suitable experience and qualifications in the supporting disciplines for this role.  There is also a requirement to travel (Information Systems is a collaborative function between South Yorkshire and Humberside Police Forces)
