On the 1st April 2015 Humberside Police and Humberside Fire and Rescue Services transferred the provision of vehicle and operational equipment maintenance and fleet management services to their joint venture company Emergency Services Fleet Management (Humberside) Limited based at Melton, East Yorkshire, and this is an exciting opportunity to work within the new single service function.

The vehicle and equipment workshop collaboration is a great example of how the emergency services in the Humber area can work together to provide a state of the art facility at a much lower cost. Local blue light services are proving that together they can provide a great service to the public even in the face of severe financial pressure. Vehicle Technician

Salary Band Scale 5 - £21,999 to £24,030

Reporting to Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing and repairing all types of vehicles & plant and specialist vehicle equipment.  You will also maintain and fit operational equipment in vehicles as required and carrying out all mechanical and electrical repairs on vehicles in line with manufacturer’s recommendations and Service policy.

You must have experience as a time served or qualified mechanic, hold a City & Guilds 3 in Motor Vehicle Technology or NVQ equivalent, and possess a detailed practical working knowledge of light vehicles, commercial vehicles and non-mobile equipment maintenance and repair. You should be able to use computerised and other types of diagnostic equipment and have a practical awareness of the Health and Safety issues relating to vehicle maintenance and workshop environments.

Appointment to the post will be made to Emergency Services Fleet Management (Humberside) Limited and is subject to Police vetting clearance at recruitment level.
